Our History

Earlturn Pty. Ltd founded the Southern Cross Atrium Apartments in 2003 with a vision of bringing a resort-style ambience to affordable holiday accommodation in Cairns city centre. Sam Ma & Tina Ma joined while stage 2 was being built in 2004. Stage 3 was completed in 2005. So Southern Cross Atrium was built in 3 stages. Earlturn Pty. Ltd retired end of last year, 2019.

In 2007, Jay Sevil (House Keeping Manager) joined and 2009, Karen O’Donohue (Property Manager) joined them and over the last decade they’ve put together a confident and attentive team who genuinely enjoy coming in to work.

The 12 apartment blocks were designed by the award-winning CA Architects to integrate with the environment rather than shutting it out. Every apartment has crossflow ventilation to catch breezes and every bathroom has a window. Even so, every self-contained apartment comes with ceiling fans and air conditioning plus a full suite of appliances to ensure maximum comfort and self-sufficiency.

The apartment blocks have been built with three serene tropical courtyards, known as the Atriums, filled with family-friendly facilities. This includes three pools, two BBQ areas, and even a gym and sauna. This is all centred around a management suite, where all guest services are provided by our friendly and approachable staff.
